What to bring when boarding

The following information is for full or weekly boarding pupils and is a brief outline of what you can bring with you when you are boarding at Sibford. Flexi boarding pupils should view the Flexi boarding page for guidelines of what they need to bring with them.

You may bring:
A portable CD player or personal mini disc/ipod
Any games or hobby materials you enjoy at home
Suitable magazines
Suitable DVD's (if they are deemed unsuitable or are being shown to under age pupils Housestaff will confiscate them).
Cycles, Skateboards and Scooters (they must be used in designated areas and with the correct protective clothing).
A mobile phone - they should not be used during the school day or after lights out.

You may not bring:
A personal TV - there are TVs in the boarding houses.
Aerosols - bring only pump action or roll-on products.
Very expensive items of personal property (see notes below) if in doubt ask your housestaff.
Large amounts of cash. We have a pocket money system which works well and ensures that you have money each week to spend.

Pocket Money:
Pocket money should be deposited with housestaff in the form of a cheque (payable to Sibford School). Housestaff will then pay out a weekly sum. Full boarders can withdraw an extra sum for the weekend and for special excursions if ordered in advance.
Pupils from abroad should deposit a bank draft at least one week before the start of term.

A word about valuable items:
We keep a record of serial numbers and descriptions of valuable personal possessions in a pupil inventory. It is essential that all property with a value of more than £50 be registered with housestaff. Expensive items really should not be in school and if brought the owner should take responsibility for the item's safety.

Clothing:
See the clothing lists in the 'for parents' section of this site for full guidelines. Please ensure all clothing, including your casual clothing and footwear, is named. Don't forget to bring slippers to wear in the boarding house.
