Student Forum

The Student Forum regularly discuss such subjects as food, discos, social events, available activities, charity events, eco schools events etc. The minutes of these meetings are circulated to the various representatives and all tutor groups. If a pupil has a particular concern that they wish to bring to the attention of the Student Forum they should approach their representative.

Pupil Representatives are elected on an annual basis by their peer group to attend the Student Forum meetings. Meetings are chaired by the Head Boy or Girl and minutes taken by the Deputy Head Boy or Girl.

Statement of Purpose:
Sibford School Student Forum believes in providing an opportunity to have the voice of students heard, understood and wherever possible responded to in a way that enhances our school community.  It is our aim to encourage active participation in the school community and to develop a stronger sense of social responsibility and respect for others demonstrating core Quaker values.  We hope that our pupils will ‘Let their Lives Speak’ and will grow as individuals through their service to the community.

Being Healthy

Developing confidence, communication skills, and being happier as a result of being involved with school and expressing their peers’ views helps children develop emotional resilience.

Students Forum also helps make their peers healthier by improving food in the dining room and promoting sports activities, social events and eco schools activities.

 

Staying Safe

Sibford School Student Forum works to engender peer leadership, openness and awareness.  These qualities make schools safer and happier places.

The most effective Social Respect (Anti-Bullying) policies are focused on by students.  Students are encouraged to discuss their concerns and help provide confidential support.

 

Enjoying and Achieving

By taking the opportunity to become involved in the school community, essential life skills such as listening, diplomacy, compromise and communication are developed.

Effective participation in school life help raise attainment by improving the learning environment.

 

Making a Positive Contribution

Through the Student Forum, student’s belief in their ability to make a difference develops.

Life skills learnt through active participation enable students to contribute to their community and wider society.  Students contribute to the interviewing process of prospective teachers.

 

Economic Well Being

Sibford School Student Forum is given a budget of £500 to manage.  The responsibility of running a budget helps children develop economic and financial awareness.
