4th and 5th May 2010 - Abbey Road Concert at The Mill Arts Centre, Banbury

The Abbey Road album was released in 1969 - a creative high point for the Beatles. Sibford pupils performed songs from the album to an appreciative audience at The Mill Arts Centre in Banbury on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th May 2010.

"Abbey Road features a real mixture of tracks which makes it a brilliant project to work on with our musicians here at Sibford ... so much to get our teeth into and so much to learn!"
Matt Platt, Director of Music

Profits from this concert were split between Sibford's music department and the charity 'Epilepsy Action' whose Honorary Vice-President and author of 'The Snow Geese' and 'The Music Room', William Fiennes, wrote the following:

"I've loved the idea of this concert ever since Andy Foakes first told me about it. OnTuesday afternoons I visit a school in North London, near Swiss Cottage, which means driving up Abbey Road, past the EMI studio and across the famous zebra crossing. There's always an awkward moment there, because you're not sure whether the people waiting on the pavement are actually wanting to cross the road, or are just Beatles fans posing for photographs; very confusing for drivers. Anyway, I love Abbey Road, and I'm a bit jealous of the Sibford students getting the chance to inhabit the music like this."
