Book of the Month:
Pupils at Sibford School will be taking part in the Oxfordshire Book Awards for the first time! They will be reading the short-listed books and voting for their favourite at the end of March – only pupil votes are allowed so the Awards are only won by the books that are truly the best books to read. Why not read them and join in the vote! Click on the link below to see the full list: http://www.oxfordshirebookaward.org/2011-short-list Need ideas on what to read next?Use the book guides in the Library particularly “Who Next?” which suggests other authors who write in a similar way to your favourite authors! It also lists authors by genre so if you want a book about spies, families, school or want a good laugh check out this book next time you are in the library. The link below has lots of suggestions for 'Riveting Reads and Books for Boys' Library Club:We now have a Library Club on Thursday lunchtimes. We’ll be doing book related games and activities and each half-term we’ll all read the same book so that we can discuss it together. The current choice is ‘Guilt Trip’ by Anne Cassidy. Visiting Writer:Mark Robson will be visiting on 7th March, World Book Wednesday. He will be selling and signing his books. On our other World Book Wednesday (Feb 29th), we will be arranging lots of different bookish activities in the library. Christmas Reading Challenge:Annabel Baker, 9PS won our Christmas Reading Challenge. Jordan Bird and Arthur Clarke were our runners up. We had some splendid reviews written which we will keep in a folder for other pupils to consult. Please do continue to try reading books by lots of different authors! There are so many!
