We take our responsibilities for Health and Safety seriously and all staff and pupils are carefully briefed about our fire evacuation procedures. These are stated below for your information.
When the fire bell sounds, you should make your way quietly and calmly to the nearest collection point. If you are with a member of staff they will direct you. Most pupils will collect in front of the Hill Building on the playing field. You should line up in Tutor group order with Year 13 nearest to Penn House and Year 7 opposite Room 6. Your Tutor will then take your register and report any missing pupils to the Head. It is important that you remain silent throughout this process as staff may need to communicate with the Head about missing pupils. Keeping calm and quiet throughout a fire drill ensures that this information is gained quickly and may, in the case of a real fire, save lives. As a school we are obliged to undertake several fire drill practices each year. However, we have in the past had need to set the fire bell sounding following real fire situations. You should always treat the fire bell as a real situation.
